One of the most refreshing design trends of 2019 is a shift to more vintage typography styles.

More serif typefaces, rounded slabs and text elements that seem to have an older feel. These vintage styles all seem to have bolder, thinker lines than some of the thinner sans serifs that have been popular in the last few years.

Even some well-known brands, such as Mailchimp (above) have shifted to this vintage typography style.

The biggest contributing factor to this design trend is better screen resolutions across all devices. It was once thought that sans serifs were the most readable on screens, but thanks to high def and high-res understanding serifs is not an issue.

Google has been doing a great job lately of making it easier for Android users to manage their accounts. We now have Google One, which makes working with your Google Storage accounts incredibly easy. Next up comes the newly redesigned Google Account settings. Unlike Google One, this new feature focuses specifically on your Google Account and all the settings available to it. This is really more of a redesign to the already handy Google Account Settings app found in Settings | Google | Google Account. Thing is, however, this reboot of the app is significant and makes working with your account even easier. In fact, it goes a long way toward helping you secure your Google accounts without having to fumble around on numerous websites or deep diving into various settings locations.

UI offers tips to save energy while beating the heat

ORANGE � United Illuminating and its parent company, AVANGRID, Inc. are offering customers tips to help beat the heat and conserve energy at the same time, according to a UI press release.

A big increase in electrical demand, driven largely by air conditioners, can tax the regional power grid and cost consumers extra money, the release said.

While the regional power grid operator, ISO-New England, has said it anticipates having enough power resources to meet normal summer demand, prolonged high temperatures can put a strain on the grid that would necessitate unusual measures, such as UI asking commercial and industrial customers to suspend operations voluntarily, the release said.
